Not even 10 p.c. of benefits are reaching Chenchus due to corruption: Minister E. Pratap Reddy tells officials to redraft schemes and improve the delivery mechanism KURNOOL: Minister for Law and Courts E. Pratap Reddy underlined the need for bringing Chenchus into mainstream. Addressing a function after inaugurating the sports meet for Chenchus, sponsored by the Police Department at Atmakur in Kurnool district on Thursday, he said despite serious efforts, not even ten per cent of the benefits are reaching the targeted Chenchus due to corruption. He wanted the officials to redraft the schemes and improve the delivery mechanism so that the governmental schemes would light up the lives of the aboriginal tribes who are in dire straits in the forests of Kurnool district. The Police Department gathered over 160 youth from 32 gudems in Kurnool district and accommodated them for the two-day sports meet. The events were held in kabaddi, volleyball and archery. Collector Ramsankar Naik said that the sports meet was conducted on the initiative of DGP Aravind Rao, who accepted a suggestion from him during a visit to the district some time back. He said the of Chenchus was high on the agenda of the district administration. DIG Anil Kumar, who was the brain behind the event, promised every help from the department for their welfare and progress. MLA L. Venkata Swamy, ITDA Project Officer Alok Kumar Alok Kumar, District Sports Development Officer Nagaraju, Deputy SP P.N. Babu and others were present.
