Two lakh saplings to be planted

KASARAGOD: Two lakh saplings will be planted this year in the district as part of ‘Haritha Keralam' project by involving those employed under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme.

Saplings would be planted in public places, schools, office compounds, wastelands and hilly localities as part of promoting nature conservation, an official release issued here said. District panchayat president P. P. Shyamala Devi, on Thursday, inaugurated a training session for grama panchayat and block panchayat officials who would implement the ‘Haritha Keralam' project.
