100 per cent hike in pension

PUDUKOTTAI: A total of 29,519 beneficiaries of various pension schemes in the district will get double the monthly pension sum from the present Rs.500 to Rs.1,000 with effect from May 1 payable on June 1.

In an official press release issued here on Wednesday, A.Suganthi, District Collector, said that the Chief Minister Jayalalithaa had ordered the hike in the monthly pension sum with effect from May 1.

Beneficiaries under various schemes including the ‘Indira Gandhi Old Age Pension' would get the hike.
