Gandhian remembered

Special Correspondent

THRISSUR: Writer and social activist Sukumar Azhikode has said that Gandhian ideals are fast vanishing in society.

Addressing a function here on Thursday to commemorate Gandhian V.R. Krishnan Ezhuthachan, Prof. Azhikode said that modern-day Gandhians lacked calmness and courage.

“If people who try to follow Gandhian principles need a model, they should look at the life of Krishnan Ezhuthachan. The best way to pay him homage is to get inspired by his life,” he said.

Cooperation Minister C.N. Balakrishnan said that Malayalis rarely honoured greatness.

The Harithabharthi awards, instituted by the V.R. Krishnan Ezhuthachan Birth Centenary Foundation, were presented on the occasion.

Veteran journalist C. Uthama Kurup and former MLA and chairman of Milma Prayar Gopalakrishnan received the awards.
