Faridabad: Cyril Joy was waiting for a visa to take up a job as a male nurse in Kuwait, but in a cruel turn of events ended up as one of the victims of the air ambulance crash here.
The 25-year-old youth from Kerala had joined duty in the afternoon shift on Wednesday at Apollo Hospital in Delhi where he was working for the past five years. “He would have gone home after the shift but at the last minute was asked to go to Patna to fetch a patient. The journey turned out to be his last,” a friend of Mr. Joy said.
The aircraft which was ferrying a critically ill patient Rahul Raj, a 20-year-old Patna-based businessman, to Apollo Hospital crashed into a house here at 10.35 p.m. All seven aboard, including Mr. Joy, and three women on the ground were killed in the accident. Mr. Joy, hailing from Vazhachuklam village in Ernakulam district, is the son of Joy P. Kuriakose and Reethamma – who is also a panchayat member.
He had got selected for a male nurse's job in Kuwait recently and was awaiting a visa.
Apollo Hospital said the crash was unfortunate and tragic. — PTI
