HYDERABAD: Two doctors from the city were allegedly duped of Rs. 19.5 lakh by some persons who promised to provide them seats in post-graduate medical courses. The Hyderabad Central Crime Station sleuths probing the allegation are suspecting if the middlemen resorted to any irregularities in the PG medical entrance exam. A case under Sections 420 (cheating) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code was registered following the complaint from the two doctors. Interestingly, the main suspect in the case, who claimed to be Badri, was introduced to the two doctors by two other woman doctors who too reportedly appeared for the PG medical entrance test. Investigation conducted so far indicated that Badri had collected money at least from five other PG medical seat aspirants. The two complainants said they handed over the money to Badri near a school at Tarnaka much before the entrance exam was held. The other five doctors paid nearly Rs. 50 lakh. After announcement of the entrance test result, the two doctors found that they would not get seats and approached Badri. He convinced them that he would ‘manage somehow' during the counselling. He disappeared after the counselling was over. The other two doctors, who introduced Badri to them, feigned innocence stating they didn't know much about him. A hunt was launched to trace Badri. Police are verifying reports that a suspended employee of NTR UHS was connected to Badri. “It is yet to be ascertained to what extent the suspended employee was involved in the cheating. Names of a doctor called Soujanya and her companion came up during inquiries,” the investigators said.
