GHMC asked to remove encroachments
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD: The Forum For Better Hyderabad has requested the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to remove all encroachments and illegal shrines that have come up in public places.
The Forum sought to bring to the notice of the GHMC that trees in public places were being encroached upon overnight at many of the public places and painted with a particular colour.
Suspension sought
Citing the Supreme Court verdict on such situations that local official should be punished, it asked for immediate suspension of the official concerned.
To file PIL
The Forum also said it was in the process of filing PIL in High Court to know how many shrines have come up after the Supreme Court's verdict.
The forum said that the apex court in its verdict asked the respective governments to stop shrines coming up in public places', and what action has been taken by the respective governments to protect public places particularly the trees from encroachments.
