Dinesh nets winner for Gowrishankar XI

HYDERABAD: Gowrishankar XI defeated Ramakrishnapuram 1-0 in the semifinals of the Sachdev Sports Cup football tournament (under-16), organised by Shastri Soccer Club, at Trimulgherry Village Grounds here on Thursday.

After a barren first-half, winger Dinesh was on target off a pass from Surya in the second session for Gowrishankar XI.

In the other semifinal, Trimulgherry Village takes on Gymkhana XI on Friday.

SBH bows out

State Bank of Hyderabad was knocked out in the semifinals of the all-India Namdar Vilasraoji Deshmukh Trophy invitation football tournament when it lost to Abdul Nabi Club of Aurangabad 4-5 via tie-breaker in Udgir, according to information received here.

At the end of full-time, the teams were locked goalless.

In the tie-breaker, the Aurangabad team converted all their penalty kicks while for SBH Ifthekar missed the kick.

Chauhan, Menaka win

V.C. Chauhan of Boys Sports Company and T. Menaka of Osmania University clinched the honours in the men's and women's sections respectively of the 14th AP State annual road races organised by the Athletics Coaching Academy at Nizam College here.

The results:

Men: 4km: 1. V.C. Chauhan (BSC) 13:10s; 2. Krishna Rao (APP); 3. Vazhir Ghori (OU).

Boys: Under-16: 3km: 1. P. Gopal (Sec'bad) 10:10s; 2. K. Lal Singh (Mbnr); 3. Md. Ishaq (OU).

CCF loses again

Cricket Coaching Foundation, Hyderabad, suffered another defeat when Pepsi XI (Bangalore) recorded a 35-run win in the open category of the all-India Pepsi Cup invitation cricket tournament in Bangalore, according to information received here.

The scores: Pepsi XI Bangalore 135 for eight in 20 overs (Anand three for 25) bt CCF 100 (Yeshwanth 30) .

SBH wins trophy

State Bank of Hyderabad recorded an eight-wicket win over Citi Bank in the final of the GSIC cricket tournament for corporate groups organised by Gecko Sports Management here.

The scores:

Citi Bank 112 in 19.4 overs (N.P. Singh three for 35, Balaji three for 25) lost to SBH 115 for two in 12.5 overs (Venkat Dhatrak 42).

Special prizes: Player of the final Venkat Dhatrak (SBH); Best batsman Mukesh (Citi Bank); Best bowler P.M. Ranga Raj (SBH); Player of the series Mukesh (Citi Bank).
