Karur produces third state SSLC rank holder

KARUR: The overall pass percentage of students in the SSLC examination in the district stood at 87.23 per cent compared to last year's 80.10. M. Senthil Kumar of Cheran Higher Secondary School, Punnam Chatram near here secured the third position in the state with 494 marks. Among those who appeared for the state board examinations, 4,298 boys and 5,836 girls secured a pass. In the matriculation stream 852 of the 872 boys and 711 of the 714 girls passed the examination in the district. The pass percentage is 98.55.

Under the state board, 11,618 students took the examinations of which 10,134 secured a pass. Twenty one schools in the district achieved cent per cent pass. Mr. Senthil Kumar said he owed his success to his parents, teachers and schools administration for the support and encouragement. He said he would strive to repeat the result in the plus two examination.

Among the individual toppers in the district, the runner-up was bagged by three candidates - G. Vignesh of Ashram HSS, Manavadi; B. Senthil Nathan of Rangasamy Gounder HSS, Nadayanur; and M. Narmada of PA Vidya Bhavan HSS scored 493 marks.

K. Revathy of St. Teresa's HSS, Gandhigram; B. Ponnivalavan of SV HSS, Thulasikodumbu; and R. Yuva Priya of PA Vidya Bhavan scored 492 marks to get the third spot.

District Revenue Officer T. Pitchaiah distributed awards to rank holders at the collectorate. He said the students had brought glory to their parents, teachers and their institutions.

Matriculation

In the matriculation stream G. Anandalakshmi of Cheran Matric HSS, Vennamalai; G. Nandhini of TNPL Matric HSS, Kagithapuram; and K. Soundarya of St. Anthony's HSS, Anadankoil, scored 489 to bag the joint first position in the district. S. Sneha of St. Anthony's HSS, Andankoil, secured 487 marks to grab the second position while N.P. Shanmughi of Chettinad Raja Muthaiah Matric HSS, Puliyur, and P.S. Madhumathi of Cheran Matric HSS, Vennamalai, scored 486 marks to claim the third position. Twenty two schools scored cen per cent pass.
