MCD meeting adjourned

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi House meeting on Friday was adjourned after an uproar over the issue of illegal construction raised by the opposition Congress.

The Congress said even more than three months after it suspended four engineers for issuing completion certificate to an incomplete structure in Sadar-Paharganj zone, the civic body was yet to take action against the building and its owners.

‘Builder mafia'

Further, it alleged that the BJP-ruled civic body was in “nexus with the illegal construction mafia” and had “failed” to act against them.

Congress councillors Shalu Malik and Satbir Sharma from Shastri Nagar and Kishan Ganj respectively sought response from Municipal Commissioner K. S. Mehra on the matter.

On not getting a convincing response, the Congress leaders disrupted the House proceedings.
