NEW DELHI: Advocate R.K. Anand on Thursday said he would file an appeal in the Delhi High Court to vacate the stay on the release and circulation of his book, “Close Encounter with Niira Radia, the book on corporate lobbyist.”
The book has been written by Mr. Anand, edited by the former Executive Editor of India Today, Inderjit Badhwar, and published by Har-Anand Publication.
Noting that the book was based on the tapes of Ms. Radia's telephonic conversations with businessmen, politicians and journalists, and which were already in the public domain, Mr. Anand said the aim was to merely put together the tapes in “proper perspective.”
Claiming that the book demonstrated how Ms. Radia tried to “manipulate and destroy” the media backed with relevant documentation, he said there could be no case for defamation as claimed by Ms. Radia. He said he would come out with a second edition of the book shortly.
The advocate released a set of documents relating to his allegation that Ms. Radia had tried to “pocket” $5,50,000 due to him as legal fees in a case fought by him on behalf of the England-based Air U.K.
