Vikram Gokhale will open film fest on June 3

PANAJI: Veteran actor Vikram Gokhale will inaugurate the fourth Goa Marathi Film Festival on June 3 at Kala Academy here at 6 p.m.

Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Pratapsingh Rane will be the guest of honour and Chief Minister Digamkar Kamat will preside over the function. The festival will open with screening of film Balgandharva, directed by Ravi Jadhav.

On Saturday, the screening of films will commence at three venues — Maquinez I, II, and Kala Academy from 9.30 a.m. to 7 p.m. About 12 screenings of films will take place over three days.

Eka Shabdat Sangto, a film directed by Gajendra Ahire, will be premiered at the festival.

The films to be screened at the festival include Taryanche Bet directed by Kiran Yadnyopavit, Bapucha Bendbajya directed by Rajesh Pinjani, Restaurant directed by Sachin Kundalkar, Kalpanachi Idea directed by Sachin Pilgaokar, Vavtal directed by Shivaji Patil, Aghat directed by Vikram Gokhale and Mi Sindhutai Sapkal directed by Anant Mahadevan.

As a tribute to the regional cinema section, Tamil movie Kutty Srank directed by Shaji Karun and Kannada film Gulabi Talkies directed by Girish Kasaravalli will be screened.

In a special “Meet The Celebrity” session, art director Nitin Desai will communicate with the audience at Kala Academy at 6 p.m. on June 4.

On June 5, there will be a seminar based on the production aspects of the film (pertaining to regional cinema). It will be presided by production controller Neil Sadwelkar.

The festival will conclude on Sunday with the premier of the film, Adgule-Madgule directed by Nagesh Bhosle.
