Indore: The house of Union Minister of Tribal Affairs and Madhya Pradesh Congress president Kantilal Bhuria was burgled here in the wee hours of Sunday, the police said.
Two LCD televisions, cash and other domestic gadgets have been stolen, they said. The adding the estimate of the loss was yet to be ascertained.
The guard, who was on duty at the time, later went missing. The Minister's family members were asleep in other rooms when the incident occurred, the police said.
“Burglars probably cut a window grill to enter the house late on Saturday night and fled with the booty,” a police official said.
A first information report has been lodged. The police have managed to catch the missing guard and are interrogating him.
Hours after the incident, the Pradesh Congress Committee demanded a high-level probe into the incident.
“The State government should take this matter very seriously and order a high-level probe,” Pradesh Congress Committee spokesperson K.K. Mishra said.
“Had Mr. Bhuria not put-off his visit to Indore at the eleventh hour due to political engagements, some unpleasant thing could have happened to him.” — PTI
