RTC hikes safety allowance for drivers

HYDERABAD: The A. P. State Road Transport Corporation on Monday has enhanced the safety allowance of drivers substantially in a bid to motivate them to work better and reduce accidents. The revision comes after 23 years, it is learnt.

In a press release, M. Nageswara Rao, working president of the APSRTC National Mazdoor Union, the recognised body of employees in the corporation, said the minimum benefit to drivers was now increased to Rs. 600 per annum from Rs. 120 and the maximum now was Rs. 2,400 from Rs. 1,200. The hike is effective from the financial year 209-10.
