4 Congress rebels withdraw from GHMC panel poll

HYDERABAD: Four Congress corporators withdrew their nominations from contesting for the GHMC standing committee poll scheduled to be held on June 8. It leaves 19 corporators in the fray for the 15-member panel where Congress-MIM combine are sure to romp home comfortably with the joint strength of 99 corporators in the 150-member council.

The four who withdrew from the contest on Monday, the last day for withdrawing nominations, following intervention of senior party leaders are: N. Suresh (Nacharam), A. Jitendra (Gowlipura), K. Jagan (Jagatgirigutta) and G.M. Ratna Kumari (Addagutta). S. Dhanpal Reddy (Cherlapalli) though a Congressman continues to remain in the fray as he had filed papers as an Independent. Other than the official 8 Congress and seven MIM corporators, two TDP and one BJP corporators are in the contest.
