D.N. Reddy, In-charge Vice-Chancellor of Osmania University said that the taking over of large number of different types of colleges would enhance the visibility and contribute to the momentum and academic vibrancy of the new university.

K. Narsimha Reddy, Vice-Chancellor, Mahatma Gandhi University, who initiated this exercise, said that assumption of control of so many institutions was an opportunity as well a challenge for the newly established university.

Till the establishment of Telangana University, Palamur University and Mahatma Gandhi University, the jurisdiction of Osmania University comprised five districts of Telangana - Rangareddy, Medak, Nizamabad, Nalgonda and Mahabubnagar, including twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
