“Send erring officials to jail”

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: Seeking strict punishment to those involved in corruption in the Commonwealth Games preparations, Delhi BJP staged a three-hour sit in demonstration at Jantar Mantar on Monday. Later a delegation of the party unit, led by president Vijender Gupta, also submitted a memorandum to the Union Home Minister to press for the demand.

The protesters demanded that all senior government functionaries and officials named in the V. K. Shunglu report be booked for acts of omission and commission and sent to jail.

The protesters included Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijay Kumar Malhotra and party national general secretary Vijay Goel.

“More than two months have lapsed since the report was submitted. The CBI had sought permission to prosecute the Delhi Government but both the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister are silent on the issue,” Mr. Gupta said.
