TD questions Congress ‘yatra'

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam legislators on Monday questioned the intentions of the Congress leaders behind the “save mines yatra” in Andhra region when all they could do is pressure Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy to act against owners who resorted to irregularities.

Addressing a press conference, the legislators -- S. Venkata Veeraiah, P. Sai Raju, G. Ramakrishna and B. Laxminarayana -- said it was strange that the Congress government in the State allowed pillaging of the mineral wealth by its supporters for seven years and now launching a “yatra” against them.

It has no sanctity and these Congress leaders seem to be resorting to “blackmail tactics” against the managements of the mines.

Criticising the government for arresting those fighting against power plant in Sompeta, they demanded their release.
