Mentally challenged woman rescued

NALGONDA: A mentally challenged woman, aged about 25 years moving aimlessly, and eating rubbish from dustbins, was rescued by an orphanage ‘Amma-Nanna Anadashramam', Choutuppal.

Concerned residents informed Gattu Shankar about her movements and the danger she faced from lecherous men.

The orphanage set up on February 1, 2010, Mr. Shankar told The Hindu, had rescued a pregnant mentally unstable woman, who delivered a son. After she recovers, he planned to hand over both to their relatives.

“I am getting the 35 persons -- 20 men and 15 women -- who are with us treated with the help of donors, who give both cash and food.”

The 35 persons are from Bhongir, Choutuppal, Ramannapet, Chityal, Narketpalli, Miryalaguda, Nalgonda, Munugod, Marrigudam, besides Ibrahimpatnam (Ranga Reddy district).

Murdered by sons

A farmer, P. Venkatanarsaiah (56) of Kukkadam village, in Tungaturti mandal, was murdered on Monday allegedly by his sons, Satish and Jagdish. The sons were slogging as weavers in Surat and sending money home, but were agitated that their father was leading a wayward life.

Boy escapes

Kranti (14) who was kidnapped by three persons from Narketpalli after being drugged escaped from their clutches in Hyderabad while being taken in a car on Monday.
