KOCHI: If lack of time to go to a library or to a book shop is the only reason that keeps you away from books, here is a solution. The Readers' Web (www.readersweb.com) an online lending library, will help those who lament their losing connect with books in their hectic daily schedule. The site makes lending books so simple. Log on to the website, scan the list of books, choose the title and in a short while it will be delivered at the doorstep. “We found that lack of time to go to a library and then to return the book on time without incurring late dues as one of the main reasons that keep people away from libraries. So we launched our online library addressing all these issues,” said Casey Nestor Fernandez, one of the three young voracious readers behind the idea, others being Romana Correya and Mellwyn Joseph. They launched The Readers' Web under a registered organisation named 26x7. Hardly three weeks into operation, the site already has 19 members. The members have 1,500-odd titles classified into 17 categories to choose from with new books to be added to the collection every month. Since all three behind the initiative are passionate about reading, their personal collection also came in handy. “We have already reached a deal with book vendors while talks with Delhi-based publishers are under way,” Mr. Fernandez, who left his job in Delhi to launch 26x7, said. The site offers three membership plans catering to the needs of different segment of readers. Two to three books will be delivered twice a month under these plans. The books will have to be returned in three months. For more details, contact e-mail: read@26x7.com or call 80890 22387.
