Man held, wildlife trophies seized

Mysore: The Madikeri taluk forest mobile squad has arrested the manager of a hotel and seized several trophies of wild animals kept for display at a hotel in Arameri near Virajpet town of Kodagu, according to a press release.

The press release issued here on Tuesday said that the trophies of tiger, deer, bison, bear and other animals were displayed at the hotel without the permission of the Chief Wildlife Warden.

Case booked

A case had been registered by the squad as per the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972. The case and the arrested person had been handed over to the Virajpet rural police station for further inquiry.

Delhi link

The partners of the hotel were said to be from Delhi. Nine trophies of deer, two trophies each of tigers, bears, leopards, bison, one trophy of a bear and two horns of bison were on display at the hotel, the release said.
