LIC to launch new plan today

VISAKHAPATNAM: LIC of India will launch a new non-linked health insurance plan ‘Jeevan Arogya' on Wednesday.

Announcing this at a media conference here on Tuesday, its Senior Divisional Manager D. Nageswara Rao said that the plan would offer comprehensive hospitalisation benefits for the whole family of the principal insured including parents and in-laws. And the benefits would be regardless of the life insured getting reimbursement under any other scheme from his or her employer or any other insurance company, on the basis of certified photocopies of the original bills, he said. According to him, the minimum age at entry for principal insured is 18 years and the maximum is 65 years for self and spouse while it is 75 years for parents and parents in-law. For children, the minimum age at entry is 91 days and maximum age at entry is 17 years. The plan provides for continuing health cover of major family members up to 80 years and for minor children up to 25 years. A unique feature of the plan is that it covers all surgeries -- 140 major surgeries. Some of them would be covered 100 per cent, some others 60 per cent, 40 per cent, 20 per cent, etc. The policy can be taken for an initial daily benefit of Rs.1,000 (premium Rs.4,200 per year including term assurance rider up to 100 times of initial daily benefit and accident benefit rider for the insured and spouse), Rs.2,000, Rs.3,000 or Rs.4,000.
