KOLKATA: Having finished the season without a title, Mohun Bagan seeks to prepare better for the future bringing in prolific striker Onyeka Okolie Odafa from Churchill Brothers. The Nigerian goal poacher was presented to the media on Wednesday following a multi-crore deal that was brokered by former star Chima Okerie. Odafa, the top scorer of the I-League in the previous four seasons, has substantially eaten into the team budget as Mohun Bagan tries to reassure its fans about a better start to the upcoming season. “I was treated like a son by (Alemao) Churchill and I decided to come to Kolkata when Chima assured me that Mohun Bagan would take care of me like my previous club,” Odafa was clear about ensuring his pre-eminent status before securing his move from Goa. — Principal Correspondent
