First phase: A KSRTC bus getting ready for a trip at the newly launched Vyttila mobility hub on Wednesday. KOCHI: The first phase of the Vyttila Mobility hub became operational from Wednesday. Buses belonging to the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) plying between Muvattupuzha and the city operated from the mobility hub. M. Beena, Chairperson of the Vyttila Mobility hub, said that the KSRTC authorities have informed that they did not get sufficient passengers for the services that operated from the hub on the first day. She said that the number of passengers could be increased only by shifting the bus stop for KSRTC and private buses at Vyttila junction to the mobility hub. A proposal in this regard would be submitted before the Road Transport Authority, Ms. Beena said. According to the KSRTC officials, nearly 60 schedules will be operated from the hub in the initial phase. The corporation has plans to re-divert the buses running between Ernakulam and Thiruvananthapuram via Vyttila bypass. The construction of 13 bus bays has been completed. Each of the bus bays can accommodate five buses. Work on the entry to the hub from the Vytilla-Kaniampuzha Road and exit on the Vytilla-Tripunithura Road will be completed soon. Work on the second phase of the hub is expected to begin after the monsoon.
