Illegal firearms seized near CPI (M) office

Kolkata: Improvised canons and illegal firearms were seized from near a CPI (M) office and another area in West Bengal on Thursday by the police and the joint forces. Four improvised canons were found from a field near a CPI (M) party office at Indas village in Bankura district, Superintendent of Police Praveen Kumar said.

The police seized the weapons after being informed by local young men, he said.

In West Midnapore district, four guns, cartridges and bombs were seized from Bandgora area, Additional Superintendent of Police Mukesh Kumar said. The police have been tracking illegal firearms since the declaration of the Assembly poll results on May 13. - PTI
