HYDERABAD: Global Sports & Cultural Association of Hyderabad, formed by sports enthusiasts, has mobilised sponsorship for two promising badminton players — T. Nagendra of Rajahmundry and Ch. Poornima of Nalgonda — and handed over a cheque of Rs. 1 lakh each to them at a function at the Fateh Maidan indoor stadium here on Thursday.
Gutta Jwala and Ashwani Ponappa, who won the Commonwealth Games gold in women's doubles, were also felicitated.
Hyderabad CSA wins
Hyderabad CSA defeated Youngistan XI, Bangalore, by 25 runs in the final of the all-India Tipu Sultan Gold Cup T-20 invitation cricket tournament (under-16) in Kurnool, according to information received here. Special prizes were given to Vijay (best batsman – 298 runs from five matches), Ramesh (best bowler – 12 wickets from five matches).
The scores: Hyderabad CSA 198 for five in 20 overs (Vijay 65, Saddam Hussain 63) bt Youngistan XI, Bangalore, 173 for eight in 20 overs (Ramesh three for 16) .
Senthil XI and Trimulgherry Village ‘B' were locked in a one-all draw in the Sachdev Sports Cup football tournament (under-14), organised by Shastri Soccer Club, at Trimulgherry Village Grounds here.
Jatin put TVG ahead only to see Vinod scored the equaliser.
In another match, JJ Nagar and Loganathan XI were involved in a goalless draw.
