NEW DELHI: Some new faces have made it to the 18-member Indian women's hockey team for the FIH Champions Challenge I tournament to be held in Dublin, Ireland, from June 18-26. The prominent omissions in the side, announced by Hockey India (HI) on Thursday, were goalkeeper Dipika Murty and forward Mamta Kharab. According to sources, Dipika's performance was not up to the mark while Mamta had some fitness problems. Forward Surinder Kaur and defender Subhadra Pradhan had withdrawn from the camp due to personal reasons. Experienced striker Saba Anjum will lead the side, while Jasjeet Kaur Handa will be her deputy. India has been drawn in Pool B along with Spain, Azerbaijan and host Ireland. The team: Goalkeepers: Yogita Bali, Savita; Defenders: Joydeep Kaur, Jaspreet Kaur, Preeti Sunila Kiro; Midfielders: Asunta Lakra, Ritu Rani, Roselind Ralte, Deepika, Kirandeep Kaur, Mukta Prava Barla; Forwards: Saba Anjum (capt.), Rani, Jasjeet Kaur Handa (vice-capt.), Anuradha Devi, Chanchan Devi, Soundarya Yendala, Poonam; Standbys: E. Rajini (goalkeeper), Vaishali Sul (defender), Rashmi Singh and Roselin Dung Dung (forwards).
