The season is ripe: The HOPCOMS Mango Mela 2011 started in Bangalore on Thursday. Bangalore: You can now get the prices of vegetables and fruits sold in all Horticulture Producers' Cooperative Marketing and Processing Society Ltd. (HOPCOMS) outlets by just sending an SMS. The SMS facility was launched on the occasion of the inauguration of the annual Mango Mela on Thursday by Ministers for Labour B.N. Bache Gowda and Minister for Horticulture S.A. Ravindranath at the HOPCOMS outlet near Hudson Circle here. The new facility will ensure that consumers are not cheated in terms of prices. People can type “hopcoms (space) veg or hopcoms (space) fruits” and send it to 92433-55223 to know the prices. The rate list is also available on www.hopcoms.in “We have been getting complaints that salespersons at HOPCOMS outlets don't strictly follow our price list and tend to overcharge. The SMS facility will avoid such instances from now on, as the consumer can get the rate list through an SMS on his or her cellphone,” Mr. Ravindranath said. Mango mela Meanwhile, the much-awaited Mango Mela 2011, organised by HOPCOMS, took off on Thursday. Different varieties of the king of fruits are available at a 10 per cent discount at all the 248 outlets of HOPCOMS in the city for 45 days.
