Zilla Parishad chief discusses various issues at a meeting of standing panels

Some 86,000 applications have been received during Rachabanda

Stress on regular raids to check road accidents

VIZIANAGARAM: Zilla Parishad Chairperson B. Chandrasekhar has asked the officials concerned to clear all the representations received, particularly on housing under Indiramma, during Rachabanda (people's contact programme) at the earliest.

At a meeting of standing committees 1, 2, 4 and 7 in his chambers on Thursday, Mr. Chandrasekhar, on a complaint about undue delay in sanctions from members of the 2nd committee, asked Project Director (housing) M.G.S. Prasad to take action on the representations immediately.

Mr. Prasad said that 86,000 applications for housing were received during Rachabanda. Except Vizianagaram municipality all the representations were cleared. Further, he said that a single housing unit, in some cases, was sanctioned on the basis of ration card even though parents and married sons were living separately. The Chairperson said that names of married children must be deleted from ration cards and issued new cards to them.

The Chairperson asked Road Transport Authority, RTC, and police personnel to conduct joint raids regularly, seize overloaded vehicles, and cancel their licences to check accidents.

SSC result

On the poor performance in SSC examinations resulting in scaling down from 12th position last year in the State to 17th position, District Educational Officer Subba Rao attributed it to below 28 per cent pass in some schools in Agency mandals. The Chairperson asked him to prepare a list of such schools and take action against the teachers concerned.

School buildings

On the progress of work on 640 schools sanctioned under the Rajiv Vidya Mission, Project Monitoring Officer Ramesh Naidu said that work on 322 buildings was completed and the remaining was in progress. Zilla Parishad CEO Kondaiah Sastry and others were present.
