IMPRESSIVE:Trainee officers performing a ‘rifle charge position' at the passing out parade of the 76th aeronautical engineers and the 48th Short Service Commission Course at the Air Force Technical College in Bangalore. Bangalore: A passing out parade for 167 officers, including 47 women officers, was held at the Air Force Technical College (AFTC) on Friday here. The parade marked the end of 74 weeks of training — 22 weeks at the Air Force Academy and 52 weeks at AFTC — for the 76th batch of Aeronautical Engineers and 48th batch of the Short Service Commission Course. The course covered training in aeronautical engineering, military leadership among others. Air Marshal J. Neri, Air Officer-in-Charge Maintenance, reviewed the parade. Calling engineers an important pillar of aerospace safety, Air Marshal Neri emphasised the role played by them in the maintenance of aircraft and ground-based equipment. The prestigious “President's Plaque” for the “Best All Round Officer” was awarded to Flying Officer S.V. Ajeesh Kumar, who also received the Chief of Air Staff Medal for “Best in Mechanical Stream”. The “Vice-President's Sword” for the “Best Air Warrior” in the course to Flying Officer Suresh Kumar . Chief of Air Staff Medal for “Best in Electronics” stream was awarded to Flying Officer Sirish Deshmukh.
