The party will, however, support the motion of no confidence to be moved by TDP HYDERABAD: The Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) will abstain from the election of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker in the Assembly to maintain equal distance from the Congress as well as the TDP, which have fielded candidates. The party will, however, support the motion of no confidence to be moved by Telugu Desam if it was taken up. Telangana Rashtra Samiti MLA T. Harish Rao told The Hindu that it was decided to abstain from voting in the Speaker's election because both the Congress and TDP lacked clarity on separate Telangana and had “deceived” the people of the region. ‘Let down people' The two parties had let down people by fielding candidates for the post of Speaker from the coastal districts and leaving Deputy Speakership to leaders from Telangana. It reflected the tendency of the parties to ignore the region for top posts. Mr. Nadendla Manohar and Mr. K.E. Krishnamurthy, candidates of the Congress and TDP, respectively, for the Speaker's post, hailed from coastal and Rayalseema regions, while Mr. Bhatti Vikramarka and Mr. Suddala Devaiah, candidates for Deputy Speakership, belonged to Telangana, he added. Asked why the TRS had decided to participate in the no confidence motion after boycotting the election, Mr. Rao said the motion was proposed against the failures of the government which the party believed to be true while the election was for individual posts with which the party was not concerned. Mr. Rao also said that no whip had been issued to TRS MLAs against participating in the election.
