“It is only an interaction”

Special Correspondent

Bangalore: “I will wait for the day when the self-appointed civil society activists take up burning issues of poverty alleviation, education, malnutrition and the like,” Minister for Commerce and Industry Anand Sharma said on the ongoing agitation for implementation of the Lokpal Bill.

Asked whether the Centre was not “bending backwards” in its efforts to dissuade Yoga guru Ramdev from undertaking a fast, he said, “A government's democratic interaction with its citizens should not be seen as an effort to bend backwards to please anyone.”
