Fire in plastics scrap shop

Staff Reporter

Namakkal: A plastics scrap shop near the Namakkal bus stand caught fire on Saturday evening. Fire and Rescue Services Personnel brought the fire under control after fighting the flames – that were fuelled by the plastic carry bags and bottles – for about an hour.

None injured

Owner of the shop V. Suresh (44) said that nobody was injured as there was no one there when the incident occurred close to 5 p.m.

It is suspected that the flames might have been triggered by the exhaust window of the kitchen of a hotel that is located adjacent to the shop.
