Environment protection awards

Kochi: Team Solar, a renewable energy group, on Saturday announced the awards for outstanding performance in different areas of environmental protection. Film actor Mammootty, Kochi Mayor Tony Chammany, and K.K. Krishnandas, Chief Executive Officer, Vallarpadam Transshipment Terminal-DP World, have been selected for its Virgin Earth Golden Feather Environment Award- 2011, while S. Sitaraman, environmental activist and secretary of the Association of Environmental Protection, Johnson J. Palakkapilli, Principal, Sacred Heart College, Thevara, and Georgekutty Karianappallil, Chief Executive Officer, Lifeway Solar, have won the Green Golden Feather Environment Puraskar. While the Virgin Earth Golden Feather Environment Award carries a prize of Rs.25,000 each along with mementos, the Green Golden Feather Environment Puraskar carries a prize of Rs.15,000 each along with mementos.

The awards will be presented on June 11 at a function in Kochi.
