KRISHNAGIRI: Supporters of Baba Ramdev in Krishnagiri district staged a hunger strike for about two-and-a-half hours on Saturday morning.

It was announced that the hunger strike would be observed from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. But, the organisers called off the fast early.

The hunger strike was organised by the Bharat Swabiman Trust Hosur-Krishnagiri.

The fast was presided over by M. Magesh, District Patron, Bharat Swabiman.

He told The Hindu that it was organised to express solidarity with Baba Ramdev's call to weed out black money from the society and also to retrieve Rs. 400 lakh crore black money deposited in various foreign banks.

About 60 people participated, including women members, from various walks of life.

Response

Initially, the response was lukewarm but it gathered momentum. Kotteeswaran and Manoharan, BJP leaders, spoke.
