NALGONDA: The Communist Party of India will organise rallies in Khammam, Nalgonda, Mahabubnagar, and Ranga Reddy districts this week to highlight its demand for tabling a Bill in the monsoon session of Parliament granting statehood for Telangana. M. Adi Reddy, CPI Nalgonda district secretary, told a press conference here on Saturday that the rallies were to press other demands like checking corruption, rising prices, and protecting the country's natural resources. He said the rallies would take off on June 5 from Giriprasad Memorial, Bhadrachalam, in Khammam district. They would enter Nalgonda district on June 9, move through various mandals on June 10 and 11 and enter Mahabubnagar and Ranga Reddy districts. They would culminate in a public meeting on June 15 at Nizam College grounds, Hyderabad. Among those accompanying the rallies would be CPI State Council members P. Venkat Reddy and S. Venkateshwarlu. Party general secretary A. B. Bardhan and assistant general secretary S. Sudhakar Reddy would address the public meeting, Mr. Adi Reddy stated.
