People like Ramdev need strong backing of people, says TD leader Fast in support of Ramdev in Vijayawada
‘No' to corruption:Leaders of political parties and members of civil society organisations forming a human chain in Guntur on Saturday to express solidarity with Baba Ramdev who is leading a nationwide campaign against corruption in New Delhi. GUNTUR: Leaders of various political parties and civil society organisations expressed solidarity with Baba Ramdev who sat on a hunger strike in New Delhi as part of the nationwide campaign against corruption, by taking out a rally on the main road here on Saturday. TDP leader Mannava Subba Rao, Seemandhra Political JAC leader N. Samuel and others who took part in the event, said people like Baba Ramdev needed strong backing of the general public if their efforts to eradicate corruption were to bear fruit. Lok Satta district convener K. Surya stated in a press release that a collective effort was essential to bring back the huge amounts of black money stashed abroad and to curb the corrupt practices of politicians. Politicians blamed Some high profile politicians were responsible for the current mess and only a nationwide crusade led by popular personalities like Baba Ramdev and Anna Hazare would force the Central Government to take concrete action, they asserted. VIJAYAWADA: Activists of Pathanjali Yoga Samithi extending support to Swami Ramdev Baba's Bharath Swabhiman Andolan launched a 48-hour hunger strike at the foot of Gandhi Hill here on Saturday. Pathanjali Yoga Samithi leaders Mahendra Singh Sahni, Sana Srinivas, T.Jhansi Lakshmi, K Janaki Ram, P Ravindra Gupta and others fasted on the first day. The hunger strike camp extending support to the Bharath Swabhiman Andolan was inaugurated by industrialist Gokaraju Ganga Raju. Former UDA chairman Tumati Premnath and representatives of Acharya Nagarjuna University students, Arya Samaj, Bharatiya Janata Party and DBR Sports Academy visited the camp and expressed their solidarity with the activists.
