GULBARGA: Two members of a family were killed on the spot when the lorry in which they were travelling overturned on the inter-State highway near Savaleshwar village in Aland taluk of Gulbarga district on Saturday. The victims have been identified as Hanumanth Madiwala (41) and his son, Lingareddy Madiwala (8). The former's wife, Gangamma, and another son, Mallappa Madiwala, were seriously injured and have been admitted to the government general hospital in Gulbarga. The police said the driver of the vehicle, who has been arrested for negligent driving, lost control of it while passing through a narrow stretch of the highway that connects Waghdhari in Maharashtra and Ripponpalli in Andhra Pradesh. It is being upgraded to national highway standards near Savaleshwar. According to the police, the victims were migrant labourers from Kyatnal village in Shahapur taluk of Yadgir district. They were going towards Pune in search of employment.
