Rs 5 cr for hospital block

GUNTUR: The State Government has released Rs 5 crore towards the second instalment for construction of Millennium Block at the Government General Hospital (GGH) here, according to Guntur MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, who had a meeting with the GGH in-charge Superintendent B. Bhaskar Rao and Guntur Medical College principal K.S. Vara Prasada on Saturday.

Mr. Bhaskar Rao told the MP that some nn-rsident Indians (NRIs) were ready to donate Rs 6.50 crore for development of the Millennium Block if the project progressed as per schedule. The NRIs were inclined to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government for taking the project forward in the public - private partnership mode.

Mr. Sambasiva Rao said the Government had expressed willingness to set up a super – specialty hospital on the land belonging to T.B. sanatorium at Mangalagiri. However, the relevant G.O is yet to be released. He sought steps to mitigate the staff shortage at GGH.
