KHAMMAM: In all, 40,564 tonnes of paddy worth Rs. 38 crore had been procured from farmers through 42 purchase centres in the district so far, said Neerab Kumar Prasad, Managing Director, A.P. State Housing Corporation, who is also special officer for paddy procurement. Mr. Prasad inspected the paddy purchase centres in Kallur, Madhira, Sattupalli, and other mandals on Saturday. MSP assured Talking to mediapersons along with Collector Siddharth Jain here, Mr. Prasad asserted that the entire paddy produce of the farmers would be procured at minimum support price. Allaying fears of farmers, he said adequate arrangements had been made at the purchase centres to ensure prompt procurement of the entire paddy produce. Apart from despatching a total of 10.83 lakh gunnysacks to the purchase centres, an additional stock of 2 lakh sacks had been kept in reserve, he said adding that Rs. 17 crore had been paid to the farmers towards procurement.
