NELLORE: A pregnant girl, N. Mamatha (18), allegedly committed suicide by setting herself on fire after some argument with her lover, CH. Murali. She was pursuing SSC. The incident occurred in Chennur village, under Gudur Rural police station limits in the district on Saturday. Mamatha and Murali, both natives of Chennur village, were in love since a few months and the accused was pursuing ITI. According to Gudur ASP K. Narayana Reddy, the boy went to Mamatha's house on Saturday morning when she was alone at home and the duo had a quarrel over marriage. In a fit of rage, the girl reportedly poured kerosene and set herself ablaze. On hearing the screams of the girl, neighbours rushed to her house and shifted her to hospital. Mamatha suffered cent percent burns and died few hours later in hospital. Following a complaint lodged by the girl's parents, SI G.Sangameswara Rao registered a case under Section. 306 of IPC (abetment to suicide) and also under Section.420 of IPC (cheating) against the accused and launched a hunt to nab him. Police will verify their certificates and confirm their age. Sections would be altered if necessary, the ASP said.
