Ramdev's fast evokes wide support

Solidarity show:People from various walks of life staging a dharna in support of the indefinite fast launched by Baba Ramdev, in Tirupati on Saturday.

KADAPA: Members of Bharat Swabhiman and Pathanjali Yoga Samithi, Kadapa, launched indefinite relay hunger strike before Kadapa Collectorate on Saturday expressing solidarity with yoga guru Baba Ramdev's indefinite staff at New Delhi against black money and unbridled corruption.

Nearly 400 lakh crores of black money deposited abroad should be brought back to India by passing a resolution welcoming the United Nations Convention Against Corruption which facilitates Indian judiciary exercise its powers at the international level, Samithi district president S.V. Ramanaiah, secretary Y.V. Seshaiah, organising secretaries A.V. Ramana and K.V. Lakshminarayana Reddy, joint secretary S. Anil Kumar and members Chevuri Sarada, Dhananjaya Reddy and Srinivasulu said.

The confiscated black money can be allotted at Rs. 60,000 crores per district and Rs. 100 crores per village and used for development of infrastructure in the country. They demanded enacting of a foolproof Lok Pal Bill to curb corruption and replacement of outdated legislations dating back to the British regime to ensure economic social justice of the deprived sections. Ten crore signatures were collected in all the district, mandal and villages in three spells from January 30 to March 23 and three memoranda were submitted to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and President Pratibha Singh Pati, they said.

Kurnool Special Correspondent writes: A large number of social activists led by Bharat Swabhiman Trust and Pathanjali Yoga Samithi undertook relay fast in support of Baba Ramdev on Saturday. The activists of the Trust Sivaraj, Satyanarayana, Pratap Reddy, Lok Satta leader Venkatesh, senior advocate Sriramulu, RJP president K. Satyanarayana, Ratna Prasad, Bhaskar, Soubhagya, Sujatha, Swarnalatha, Suchita and others took part in the relay fast.

Addressing the gathering at the Collectorate, Mr. Sivaraj announced that the relay fast would continue as long Ramdev Baba was on fast at Delhi. Lok Satta leader Venkatesh said the country could be placed on the trajectory of progress if the black money was channelised back into the country. Nellore Staff Reporter adds: Similar protests were held at by members of Bharat Swabhiman Nyas and Patanjali Yoga Peeth at Gandhi Statue on Trunk Road here. They raised slogans in support of Ramdev and demanded that the government reveal the names of the persons who swindled public money and stashed it in Swiss Banks.
