Collector holds review meet on tribal sub-plan

Staff Reporter

KAKINADA: District Collector M. Ravi Chandra on Saturday wanted the officials to make sure that 16.2 per cent funds under SC component and 6.6 per cent funds under the ST component must be spent at the village-level as per the revised norms of the government. For municipalities, the quantum of SC component was 15 per cent, ST component was four per cent, women and child welfare component was five per cent, disabled welfare component was three per cent and the slum development component was 40 per cent, he explained.

Addressing a review meeting with the district officials on tribal sub-plan and spending of funds under various components, Mr. Ravi Chandra wanted the officials to make it a habit of updating the district website every month. “We are giving up the practice of seeking reports from various departments. All the departments must update the facts and figures before commencement of the review meeting on the first Saturday of every month,” he said. He wanted the officials to implement welfare programmes at the village-level in coordination with bankers and the mandal parishad development officers concerned. “Special subsidies must be given to the SCs and STs while allocating electricity connections and the farmers must be encouraged to cultivate oil palm in the district,” Mr. Ravi Chandra said while reviewing the progress of the departments one by one. Project Director of the Integrated Tribal Development Agency Ronald Ross, Municipal Commissioner of Rajahmundry Pousami Basu and other officials were present.
