Temperature goes up in north India

NEW DELHI: The temperature rose past the 40 degrees-Celsius mark across north India.

After a few days of respite, New Delhi experienced a sultry weather, with the temperature standing at 40.6 degrees Celsius, a notch above the normal. Humidity rose to 77 per cent. The pre-dawn temperature was 26 degrees Celsius. Weathermen said similar conditions would prevail in the city on Sunday.

In the plains of Punjab and Haryana, the mercury crossed the 40-degrees Celsius mark at a few places. Amritsar recorded 41.4 degrees Celsius. In Hisar, the temperature was 40.5 degrees Celsius. — PTI
