NCC selection camp starts

AIMING HIGH:NCC firing training under way at Johns School at Palayamkottai on Saturday. —

Tirunelveli: A combined annual training camp cum Thal Sainik selection camp and Republic Day contingent selection camp commenced at St. Xavier's College in Palayamkottai on Saturday.

The camp was organised by 5–TN NCC Battalion, Tirunelveli. The selection camp would be continued until June 12, Lt. Col. C. Shashi, the Camp Commander, said. As for training curriculum, the participants would be imparted with physical training, drill, weapon training, firing, obstacles, map reading and field and battle craft. Besides, they would be guided on equipping themselves with general knowledge, health and hygiene. Firing range arrangements were made at St. John's College here. As many as 300 cadets from various educational institutions across five districts including Madurai, Virudhunagar, Tuticorin, Tirunelveli and Kanyakumari attended the camp.
