Apple growers to hold demonstrations
Shimla: Protesting against the government's “indifferent and callous” attitude towards the problems of apple growers in the State, the Himachal Pradesh Apple Growers' Association (HPAGA) will hold demonstrations across the State this Monday.
“The demonstrations will be held at 20 places and the growers will sit on dharna in front of the offices of Block Development Officers (BDOs) and also hand over a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister,” Rakesh Singha and Onkar Shad, convenor and co-convenor of HPAGA said.
Compensation
The demands of the association include payment of dues for the apples sold under Market Intervention scheme last year and immediate payment of compensation to farmers whose crop was damaged due to natural calamities like hail and storm. - PTI
