VISAKHAPATNAM: Gajuwaka MLA Chintalapudi Venkataramaiah has appealed to the Railway authorities to provide a halt at Duvvada to all trains originating in Visakhapatnam. In a letter to Union Minister of State for Railways K.H. Muniyappa, while thanking him for providing a halt to some of the trains, Mr. Venkataramaiah sought provision of halt for other trains such as Garib Rath, Lokmanya Tilak and Nizamabad Express at Duvvada. Duvvada is the nearest Railway Station for more than six lakh people who reside in Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, BHPV, NTPC township, Gajuwaka, Paravada, Sabbavaram and surrounding areas. In the absence of a halt, the passengers have to either go to Anakapalle or Visakhapatnam Railway Station travelling a distance of about 30 km. Provision of a halt would save two hours time, money and fuel and prevent traffic congestions on the road. The provision of halt would also generate indirect employment.
