TIRUCHI: The daily recital of Veda Parayanam will commence at Mahendramangalam on the Musiri–Thottiyam segment, in the district on Sunday. This village is noted for the stay of Sri Paramacharya between 1911 and 1914 when he underwent the initial training in Vedas on the banks of the Cauvery. With the guidance and blessings of Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal and Sri Vijayendra Saraswathi Swamigal of Kanchi Mutt, a trust ‘Sri Mahaperiyava Veda Vidhya Gurukulam Trust' has been formed with K. Jayaramakrishnan vice-president of Global Alliances, TCS, as Managing Trustee and comprising three members – Y. Prabhu; M.S. Subramania Srowthigal of Sri Kanchi Mutt and N. Kamakodi, Executive Director of City Union Bank as trustees. The building where Sri Paramacharya stayed belongs to a private trust and has been intact. Sri Paramacharya also consecrated and offered worship to an idol of Sri Adi Sankarar at the Sandhyavandhana Thurai on the banks of the ‘akanta' Cauvery in this village.
