Cool power saving ideas

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: Power distribution company BSES claims that its initiative to invite energy saving suggestions from consumers through ‘My Cool Idea' scheme has paid off as its website has been flooded with responses.

“While some consumers have suggested using motion sensor detectors or cameras, others have suggested the use of solar photovoltaic cells blended into their outer windows to generate electricity,” said a spokesperson.

Some consumers have also put forth ideas to prevent theft. “For instance a consumer has suggested replacing cables with multiple open joints by using hooks or jumpers and covering all wires leading to the meter so that a jumper cannot be inserted in them. Another consumer has suggested timers in high mast light,” the spokesperson said.
