Water level at Siruvani increases

COIMBATORE: Coimbatore District received a total rainfall of 206 mm in the last 24 hours that ended at 8.30 a.m. on Saturday and the average rainfall is put at 17.22 mm.

The Siruvani catchment areas recorded 60 mm rain in the last 24 hours. TWAD Board sources said the last few days' rain had increased the water level by three metres. On Saturday the water level stood at 866.6 m at the Siruvani Dam.

According to reports reaching the district headquarters, rainfall recorded in mm at 8.30 a.m.: Airport recorded 1.2. TNAU 1.4, Chincona 40, Chinna Kallar 84, Valparai PAP 41, Valparai Taluk 37 and Coimbatore South 2. With water level rising steadily in Pilloor, surplus water from Bhavani is expected to be released any time.
